"You look like someone who enjoys fish." Tan said and laughed, he found it funny. But he licked on Jiro's neck just to tickle him. "I'll catch you fish if you eat your sandwich."

"I don't know how to cook the fish," Jiro said. "But uh...Eden is supposed to be good at cooking, I guess. Maybe he'll know. If he's around." He wasn't sure. Eden was a very popular model and he also assisted his grandfather with digs and excavations so he wasn't around a whole lot.

"I know how to cook it, do you like it smoked?" Tan asked, he was tempted to be a boy and do it, but that might be too much. So he would just direct Jiro on how to do it.

"How do you know how to cook? Dragons cook," Jiro said with a furrowed brow. "At least, I've never heard of a dragon cooking. I mean, I guess if you can breathe fire..." He assumed the dragon could even though it lived in water.

"My dad is human. My mum learned how to cook for him and I need food too, so I learned. As I got older." Tan said, he thought it was funny that Jiro was so surprised. "I can be a boy, but I don't think I can stay with you if the others know. It has to be a secret."

Jiro blinked. "Oh." He said. He tried to think of something more intelligent to say. "Ohhh. What?" Yeah, he failed there. "You can be a boy? How?" He'd heard rumors of fiends that could take on human form and blend in with the rest of humanity. There were signs you had to look for with each one that gave away that they were not truly human. But he didn't think that he had ever met one. And especially in the circles he had run in, with his parents, such fashions based on certain popular fiends would make that near impossible.

"I just can, I have a human father. So I'm half human..." Tan said it slower, so he absorbed that bit of information too. "But my mum, she's a dragonair and they just can be human, not sure how that works. I never cared to ask."

Jiro thought about what it would be like to have sex with a dragon. Not that he'd ever had sex. But his mind went there because he was fourteen and that was something that had been on his mind more and more as he aged. He made a face. "That's....hm." He really couldn't picture how that worked. At all. But he supposed if she could look human too then that wasn't so bad. Or something. "Why aren't you with your parents?"

"Because yours died so you need me more," Tan said, it was literally that simple to him. They had asked and he hadn't even blinked. "You need family. So that's me. If you'll have me."

"Yeah, I will," Jiro said. "They're supposed to be my new family too but I didn't get much choice in that, really. The rest of my actual relatives are kind of estranged and I don't like them much. I like Uncle Ray though..." He had always been nice to Jiro and he didn't mind that Jiro was kind of odd and strange and didn't say the sort of things that people were supposed to say.

"I don't know them, I just know you. But I don't care about them unless you do, you're my person now and I have to care for you most. I'll make you laugh and be adorable until you smile." Tanjiro said happily.

"You are pretty cute," Jiro said. "I have another fiend. Maybe you would like her. But she is just a baby. A very big baby but still a baby and I wouldn't want her to step on you. So you can meet her later."

"I'll use wind to keep her feet from me, same way as I fly." Tan said and floated around Jiro in a hyper fashion, he was totally showing off but he thought that Jiro could use his silliness.

"That looks fun. I wish I could fly," Jiro said as he watched the dragon floating. "I bet everything looks so weird from up high, huh?" He could just imagine it. He had flown with his parents to places before but he'd not much liked it. He'd usually been sleeping through it. But it would be different if he could choose to fly and control it.

"Oh?" Tan said, he controlled the win so that Jiro lifted from the ground a little bit and pulled him over so they were face to face. "I can do this, or when I'm bigger we can fly together."

Jiro jolted in surprise. He looked down. He was hovering above the ground, face to face with Tan. "Wow," he whispered. It was easy to forget how he'd just killed the man that had murdered his family yesterday when a dragon was making him float.

"Do you like it?" Tan asked eagerly, he so badly wanted Jiro to be happy. Even if was just short moments here and there. That was enough for now.

"I do," Jiro said. He wasn't laughing and he didn't smile a lot but he definitely was distracted and enjoying the sensation of floating. He reached down and touched the ground, just to do it.

Tan lifted him higher just so he couldn't. Just because it was funny to him. "After lunch, let's go for a walk and I'll be a boy. By a walk, I mean we can fly through the forest. Like this."

"Yeah? We won't get lost?" Jiro asked. He didn't know his way around the forest but he knew that it was haunted, scary and easy to get lost in. People had cautioned him not to wonder off. But Jiro did what he wanted. He didn't have the same sort of fear as normal people.

"Well if we do, we fly up higher than the trees and find our way back like that." Tan said and put Jiro back on the ground and then settled beside him comfortably. "I'm older than you. It's weird."

"Why is that weird? You're a teen like me? So you can't be much older," Jiro said. He didn't get it. But now sitting on the ground once more he could reach the plate of food. He ate some of the apples and cheese. He offered some of it to the dragon. He didn't know what dragons ate.

Tan nibbled it happily, he ate almost anything in fairness. Growing boy. "I'm 18, so a little?" He offered, he didn't explain why it was weird though.

"Only four years," Jiro said. He didn't think that four years was a huge difference. Big enough. "Do dragons go to school?" he asked, thinking of an odd thought.

"I was home schooled." Tan said, maybe that was weird. Maybe it wasn't. He didn't know the norm for kids. "But I'm finished already, because I'm a boy genius, obviously."
